Hi everybody!
Recently, a reader, Utkarsh, left a comment saying that he has completed his ICSE Class 10 syllabus for the Board Exams but still feels that he is “underprepared.” Keeping in mind the fact that there is still one month left before the board exams begin, he was at a loss regarding what to do till then. Here are some of the tips that we offered him, which we feel may be of help to all of you, as well.
How to prepare in the last month before the ICSE Class 10 Board Exams:
- Now that you have completed the entire syllabus, start going through past years’ question papers. We would recommend that you solve only papers of subjects such as Mathematics and for the rest, especially theory papers, merely going through the questions and then answering them in your mind will be enough.
- If you feel that you require writing practice and if you need to improve your time management while writing exams, then we would recommend that you set a time limit and write past years’ question papers as if you were writing your actual final exam.
Here are some of the important topics we suggested that he (and you!) keep revising in this last month before your ICSE board exams:
* grammar (especially in Hindi or other vernacular languages, if you have opted for the same)
* Math formulae
(if you haven’t made a list of your own, you may refer to them as given here: https://icsehelpline101.com/2013/05/13/mathematics-important-formulae-and-points-to-note/)
* important equations in Chemistry
* important formulae in Physics
* names of authors/poets in English
* important diagrams in Biology(you may refer to them here: ICSE Biology: Important Diagrams from All Chapters)
* important dates in History and Civics
(you can find a list for the same here: ICSE History: List of Important Dates from All Chapters)
* maps of India
(as given here: ICSE Geography: Solved Maps of India (Diagrams))
* important questions in topography
(you may access practice exercises, previous years’ solved topography questions, and a full course explanation of topography and its symbols in the following posts:
ICSE Geography: How to Interpret a Toposheet (Including Solved Practice Exercises)
ICSE Geography: How to Solve Topographical Maps: Full Course
ICSE Geography: How to Solve Topographical Maps: Symbols and their Importance (NOTES)
ICSE Geography: Solved Topography Maps from Previous Years’ Board Papers)
* important “Name the Following” questions in Geography
(for example, places where certain mineral ores are found: ICSE Geography: Minerals of India (NOTES))
By going through the above intricacies in every subject, you will be able to brush up your preparation and make sure you haven’t left out anything. This is of course, keeping in mind that you have already prepared the overall concepts of each chapter.
Besides going through question papers, also remember to check out the latest Pupils’ Analysis PDFs given on the CISCE website, which offer official answers for the previous years’ exam papers, suggestions on how to improve, and details of the types of mistakes committed by students in the past.
Keep revising, and don’t lose the momentum!
Good luck to everyone who is going to give their ICSE board exam this year. 🙂

Hi,
I’m rushali and I’m really weak in physics and chem as I read everything but I tend to forget or don’t know many questions in exams, which my friends know even if they haven’t read anything. Please tell how to study these subjects within a month . #help

Hi Rushali,
Thanks for stopping by! It seems that you find it difficult to recall things during the exam. To overcome this, you can try writing down points to sample questions or questions from previous years’ papers. You can find the same here: https://icsehelpline101.com/cisce-publications. Also, apart from practicing questions, you can write down points in a topic-wise manner for both subjects. You may also try reading out loud and trying to recall the points before reading them from your textbook/notes when revising, by keeping a hand on the paper.
Hope these tips help! Let us know if you have further questions. In the meantime, do subscribe to our email newsletter to be notified of the latest tips/notes when they are published. Keep visiting, and all the best for your exam prep! 🙂

Hi Srushti,
All these topics require practice. Essays require practice, theory requires frequent revision, topography requires practice, and so does English Literature. Frankly, there’s no shortcut for practice. Hence, we suggest that you keep revising from your notes, textbooks, and workbooks to keep these topics fresh in your mind. You may also brush up on some Hindi vocabulary so that you don’t hesitate while writing the essay.
Hope this helps. All the best for your preparation and exams!

Hi Avani,
Thanks for stopping by.
We’d suggest that you put your hand over the content when revising. After reading a chapter or even a page, ask yourself what you read and learnt. Question yourself, or pick up questions from past papers relevant to what you have just studied and see if you are able to answer them in your head without going back to refer to the study material.
Keep revising in this manner, and make notes or jot down bullet points for things you seem to keep forgetting or have to refer back.
Hope this helps! Practice is key, so stay strong. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Keep visiting!

I want regular studies and special attention to maths and physics !
Thankyou in advance !

Puja,
Hi there!
There’s no point in getting worked up about something. Here’s a solution that we suggested to a fellow student like you who also finds it “not so easy” to remember equations in Chemistry:
We’d suggest that you make a list of all important equations in Chemistry and revise them daily, either while taking a break from studies, before going to sleep, first thing after you wake up, etc. Revise them once while looking at the paper and once without (in your mind). Also, practice writing them 12 hours after you have revised them. For example, if you revise them at night, write them down the next morning and if you revise in the morning, practice writing them at night.
Stay positive and good luck! Keep calm, and if you believe that you’ll be able to do it, you WILL! 🙂
Hope this helps! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Utkarsh,
Hi again! Please don’t apologize. We’re here to help. 🙂
Regarding Mathematics, we would suggest you practice solved questions from M.L. Aggarwal or S. Chand. Keep solving them again and again till you gain confidence. After that, if there’s still time left, you can move on to solving past years’ papers.
With respect to Science, we’d suggest that you go through solved question from the reference books mentioned here:
and also go through the solved questions of the past years’ papers. These questions will cover most concepts and simultaneously, you won’t feel overburdened with theory/words.
Hope this helps! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks for visiting! Hope to see you again. 🙂

Rahul,
Hi there! First off, please don’t call me “sir.”
As for History/Civics, I suggest you study it with a calm, fresh, and concentrated mind. Don’t think that you won’t be able to remember anything. Begin with a positive attitude and remember God before starting your studies. Pray to Him to help you understand and remembering whatever that you study. It has helped me immensely and I am sure it will help you, as well. Also, learn History/Civics by going through solved questions. You may refer to the books mentioned here for solved questions of History/Civics:
Alternatively, you may also refer to the following book, which I found quite helpful when I was studying in tenth grade three years ago:
Beeta Study-Aid in History and Civics
ICSE 10
By D.E. Sequeira
Morning Star and Beeta Publications/M.S.B. Publishers Pvt. Ltd.
Keep your chin up, because you will surely do well. The first step is to change your attitude and always remain positive. Keep working hard (but, smartly) and leave the rest to God. 🙂
Hope this helped! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Keep visiting and good luck! 🙂
