The following PDF contains a list of important dates in Indian History and World History, as deemed important for your ICSE History Board Exam. Please go through them. I cannot ensure that dates other than the ones mentioned in the list will not be asked in your Class 10 Boards. However, the list contains those dates which are most likely to be asked in the final exam.
The highlighted dates are probably not in syllabus. However, I was not so sure hence, I have included them as well. Do consult your History teacher at school regarding the same as per the latest ICSE syllabus.
Here’s a link to the PDF file for the aforementioned notes:

UPDATES:
(as on 10.01.17) As rightly pointed out by a reader, NK, there is a discrepancy in the above notes. Instead of “1883 – Indian National Congress was founded,” it should read “1883– Indian National Conference was held.”
(as on 25.12.19) As rightly pointed out by a reader, Ira, there is a discrepancy in the above notes. Please note that the bombings at Hiroshima occurred on August 6th, 1945, while those at Nagasaki occurred on August 9th, 1945. Both did not occur on the same day, as mentioned in the above notes.
Please take note of the same. Thank you.
Do check out the above revision notes! Hope they help you revise your dates before the ICSE Class 10 History Board Exam. 🙂

Great notes but in our history book the World War 2 is said to have been fought from 1939 to 1945, which also makes much more sense since America dropped atom bombs in 1945.

Hey, great notes but Hiroshima bombing was on 6th August while Nagasaki happened on the 9th of the same month. They did not occur on the same day as mentioned in these notes.

thank you so much for the help!
also,i think there is a little error in the “history important dates notes” it says:
1883- Indian national congress formed
1885- Indian national congress formed
if I’m not wrong, 1883 saw the birth of the Indian National CONFERENCE 🙂
anyway, thank you a lot

I want to know , is it necessary to discuss about the incidents happened earlier in order to elongate my answer ??

Hi Subham,
It depends on the question. However, do not focus on the length of your answer. Instead, try to analyze whether you are answering what has been asked. If you can answer what has been asked in less sentences, then that is absolutely ok. However, if you wish, you may add one introductory line to begin your answer. We would suggest that you consult you History teacher regarding what kind of questions require an introductory line. However, quantity should not precede quality.
Hope this helps! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks for stopping by, and do keep visiting! 🙂

Dear Admin,
In the quite likely situation that a question demands the candidate to “enumerate”, “state” or “list” the causes/factors/reasons for any event, is the candidate required to explain the same? Supposing the question is a three-marker, does the candidate need to list and explain three points, or merely list them? Your advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Rahul,
For a three-marker question, it is essential that you elaborate about the points and not merely list them. Two to three lines about each point is a must. Hope this helped! If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you and keep visiting! 🙂
